WWE Smackdown 7/2/20 | My Coherent Review.

This episode of Friday night Smackdown was (not counting commercials) an hour and 26 minutes and it felt twice as long. Boy, what a boring show.

The Return Of The Dirt Sheets.

WWE Photo

John Morrison and The Miz showed off their cinematic skills for a trailer they've made, a skill that they're still trying to be somewhat good at.

Out came their Super showdown opponent in The New Day and they laughed at the notion of Miz and Morrison capturing the tag team titles from them.

WWE Photo

The Usos came out to tell the hosts of the dirt sheets that they'll put them in The Usos Penitentiary but Dolph Ziggler's music distracted The New Day which was an opportunity for Miz and Morrison to hit the tag champs from behind. The segment started off great but it had a lacklustre end to it.

That Dirt Sheets intro narrated by Howard Finkel took me back though to a time that I didn't know what bills were (yes, I'm that young). Good times.

The Usos vs Dolph Ziggler And Robert Roode.

WWE Photo

A fun match actually. Jimmy Uso super kicked both Ziggler and Roode. Jimmy then tagged his brother to hit a Samoan splash but Ziggler lifted his knees to a near fall.

The match ended with a double superkick from both Usos and Jimmy hits a splash Samoan style and takes the W.

We later transitioned into a pissed off King Corbin who by the way, attacked a member of the production team due to him airing the video of Roman Reigns and The Usos pouring him in dog food.

You could argue one thing that the Corbin character and dog food have in common is that they're both less appetising. Maybe that's the reason why he picked dog food and not the obviously terrible dog puns.

Elias vs Cesaro.

WWE Photo

That suplex from Cesaro was picture-perfect and the only highlight worth mentioning in this bout. Elias wins with an elbow drop.

Corbin still complains about what happened last week from the stage area and demands a rematch from the big dog.

WWE Photo

Roman Reigns showed up and attacked him to which he accepts Corbin's challenge but the stipulation? Inside a steel cage. *Major* sigh.

Who's Next For Goldberg?

Goldberg via satellite, talked about how he witnessed the men's Royal Rumble match with his son, calling it "downright inspiring".

Goldberg was interrupted by Bray Wyatt and Goldberg didn't like his tricks so he challenged him for the universal championship. I've never felt so bored and so unenthusiastic with an announcement like this.

Daniel Bryan vs Heath Slater.

WWE Photo

This match came about when Heath Slater talked to Daniel Bryan in a locker room about the history Bryan had with the Fiend and Bryan replied it by challenging him to a match. This was a one-sided match.

Bryan wins with a brutal stomp that led to a rebel lock and he still kept the hold even after the match concluded.

The Fiend sure does change people from Rollins to The Miz to now, the leader of the yes movement and honestly, I like this. It gives characters consequences and a great lead to a change in personality.

Braun Strowman Celebrates His First Singles Title Victory.

WWE Photo

The monster among men talks about his intercontinental championship win last week to Renee Young inside the ring and then, Sami Zayn with Shinsuke Nakamura, asked Strowman for a rematch.

Braun gladly accepts but Zayn didn't want that to happen and told him that he'll use his resources to put the big man down.

WWE Photo

That so-called "resources" was The Revival and they attacked the big man and he got rid of the former tag team champs, however, he was knocked out by the Kinshasa. Anybody else cares about this because I don't.

Something that I do care about is Otis' date with Mandy Rose and he's prepared his upcoming date with some workouts. Hopefully, that date will go smoothly.

Sheamus vs Apollo Crews.

WWE Photo

After a dominant win for *sigh* the fella, Shorty G showed up and tried to put Sheamus down but instead, the opposite happened thanks to a brogue kick. Whatever.

Naomi vs Alexa Bliss vs Carmella vs Dana Brooke. Winner Gets To Face Bayley For The SmackDown Women's Championship.

WWE Photo

A meh main event with a "huh?" outcome. Naomi hits the rare view but Carmella delivers the superkick to win her number one contendership for the SmackDown women's championship.

I don't mind this win if that segment with Naomi last week didn't exist. Maybe they're saving for a Naomi vs Bayley match at Wrestlemania but I'm just confused by that decision. Will see how this builds up.

So, to recap for all of you slow mofos.

Like: The first half of the opening segment, The Usos vs Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode, Otis preparing for a date with Mandy Rose.

Didn't like: Braun Strowman, Sami Zayn, Shinsuke Nakamura and The Revival segment, Goldberg's announcement.

WrestleFest DXB's Fahrenheit 971 | A Coherent W.

Being a fan of pro wrestling (or any other medium of entertainment) does have its pros and cons when engaging with the industry as a whole.  On one hand, you've witnessed an Eddie Kingston promo that'll make you tear up more than the opening scene of Up.  On the other hand, going to the wrestling subreddit will definitely have you questioning humanity as a whole and the fact that living in an area where a wrestling presence pretty much doesn't exist like a Vince Russo-written storyline that is, you know, GOOD!?  Luckily, the latter retracted my con as a fan because I'm talking about Wrestlefest DXB and their latest joint, "971 Fahrenheit".  Martin Bushby of now Post Wrestling Alumni brought the event to my attention because like a wrestler on an episode of RAW I get distracted all the time.  So, I decided to take a short journey to a taxi then a bus then a train then a 30-minute walk to the show itself and I know I'm going to sound biased as f**k but I l...

Let's Talk About The White Rabbit In The Room.

I haven't reviewed last year's show mainly because it was so good and clearly as extreme as any ECW match and I'm happy to tell all 3 of y'all that this one is better by several inches or so. Why? *slaps my bald head* HERE'S WHY. The opening match between Sheamus and Gunther's crew ruled harder than the Mongolian empire.  It was basically an enhanced version of Sheamus' match with Gunther last night on Smackdown and I loved it.  The Brawling Brutes' victory means one thing that is clearly obvious, a rematch between Sheamus and Gunther for the intercontinental championship aka the only series of rematches I don't mind.  Ronda Rousey and Liv Morgan delivered in what was a wrestling match equivalent to the X-Men Dark Phoenix movie.  While Bianca Belair and Bayley had their equivalent to the first Iron Man movie in that it was decent.  Drew McIntyre and Karrion Kross had an okay edition of the "Meaty men slapping meat".  That spear from Edge to...

A Few Thoughts On RAW And Smackdown: RAW wasn't GREAT!?

Since this blog will be less of a priority now considering I'm focusing on my podcast now (hit the 5 stars on Apple Podcast you sons of b*tches), I decided to share my few thoughts on RAW, Smackdown, I guess?  Smackdown.  The blue brand delivered yet another good episode this week and it's probably due to the fact that Braun Strowman taking out the Maximum Model is high-key funny as f**k.  The folks over at Titan Towers are bringing back the essence of their characters whether it's Kevin Owens, Shayna Baszler or in this case, Big Braun himself.   As a fan, you gotta love it, especially since in the case of Strowman, the dude hasn't been the same since he turned heel 4 years ago when feuding with Roman Reigns for the universal title.   Other noteworthy segments include Logan Paul challenging Roman Reigns for the big world universal multiverse galactic cinematic championship.  Imagine they pulled that match off 7 years ago back when Logan was on V...
