The 5 News Week: Cathy Kelley Leaves WWE, Tony Khan Being Hands-On Creative According To Reports.

Hello, my fellow wrestling fans and welcome to the 5 news week. The post where I report 5 major or minor news of the week that I don't have time to do it separately.

This is mostly a PWinsider edition so expect to read 3 out of the 5 news coming from PWinsider. Without further ado, here are The 5 News Week.

Cathy Kelley Leaves WWE.

This is rather shocking given how talented she as an on-air host. Cathy Kelley jumped on Instagram to announce that she's leaving world wrestling entertainment.

‪I’ve typed out and deleted this about 20 times over the past few days, still unsure what to write... I have come to the decision to leave WWE, with Sunday’s NXT Takeover being my last day. If you know me, you know this was more than a job, you know how much I loved it and how difficult this decision was. But sometimes in order to have room for growth, you have to step away. ‪I am so thankful for getting to live out a crazy dream the past four years. Thank you to the WWE digital team for being a platform that never stifled creativity. Thank you to Stephanie McMahon for being a mentor and inspiration in every way. Thank you to Triple H for heading up the best wrestling show ‬currently on tv and letting me be a part of it. And thank you to everyone who has supported me, whether it’s watching a video I’ve done or sending a tweet of encouragement. Words cannot begin to express how much it means. I’m not sure yet where my next chapter will take me, but I am damn excited for it. And I promise this isn’t a goodbye, it’s just a see you later ❤️ - CK

Mike Johnson and PWinsider updated this story stating that it wasn't WWE's decision to release her but rather it was Kelley's and the powers that be gave her the blessing. Cathy by the way, gave her notice a few weeks back.

The announcer joined the company in 2016 and has mostly hosted videos for WWE's social media profiles as well as doing some "my guest at this time" work in NXT.

Good luck with Cathy's next life chapter. Highly recommended you watched her interview she did with Kristan Harloff and talked about her childhood life, college, how she got the WWE gig etc. It's really good and you can watch it below.

Tony Khan Being Hands-On Creative According To Reports.

Tony Khan. Businessmen. Son of a successful and wealthy father. However, a creative writer? Really? At least that's what PWinsider is reporting. Khan has been hands-on when it comes to storylines and lays out exactly how he wants each segment to play out since the start of 2020.

Fightful's Sean Ross Sapp reported earlier this month that Tony has especially been involved creatively in the Hangman Page angles. If a storyline ain't working for you, you know who did it.

The Reason Why WWE Made Shayna Baszler Bite Becky’s Neck.

Shayna Baszler pulled out a Luis Suarez but more graphic on Becky's neck this past week on RAW and the question is, where did that idea come from?

Well, if you believe Dave Meltzer or not, he stated in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter (from WrestleZone) that it was a homage to WWE Hall Of Famer Freddie Blassie.

If you're kinda confused as to why that is, one of Blassie's nickname was The Vampire so there's that. Heyman was said to be a huge fan of the late Freddie Blassie and Baszler posted a picture of his on her Instagram story.

Triple H actually talked about that moment and whether she's permanently on the red brand in a media call (from Wrestling-World):

"Well I'm scared to see her here – I don't wanna get bitten. She's got sharp teeth and it's a scary thing and I'm wearing a big collar today just in case," joked Triple H.

"I think that will play out. There's a fascinating thing for me with that in that there was a ton of buzz going into Survivor Series with Becky Lynch. Her rise to where she is has been insane and I'm so happy for her, but you have to have that base of opponents”.

How Close Is Jeff Hardy Coming Back?

We haven't seen Jeff Hardy in several months and PWinsider once again, has blessed the wrestling fandom on giving us an update of his return. According to the report, Jeff is scheduled to be at the PC this week to check the younger Hardy sibling's current condition and get the sense of when he returns to in-ring action.

Both Jeff and Matt's contract are set to expire on March 1 but the company wants to extend Jeff's contract due to him not wrestling for quite some time. So, how close is Jeff Hardy coming back? The answer is we do not know. In other words, gotcha (sarcasm of course).

MVP On His New Role With WWE.

This piece of news is not reported by PWinsider I promise. MVP recently joined Booker T's podcast "The Hall Of Fame" and Montel talked about his current run with WWE (from Wrestle Zone):

"Whether or not I’ll be seen on WWE television more has yet to be seen, because I don’t make those decisions,” he said. “But I would definitely make myself available for an onscreen role in some capacity.”

Dave Meltzer stated on the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that MVP has joined WWE as a producer (from SEScoops) which Montel actually confirmed that in the interview itself.

What do you think about the news I just reported and follow me on the tweets @omartheplayaguy. Anyways, stay safe smarks.

WWE RAW 9/5/22 | A Coherent Review.

Yes, I didn't review Wrestlemania Backlash because one, I knocked out after a long day and two, why not? I did watch the show and it's like an episode of a Telltale game in that it's short and sweet.  How was the red brand this week?  Even though Wrestlemania Backlash is over, it still feels like I'm watching a build toward that show. It's like eating yesterday's leftovers with some fresh salad on the side, ya know. I'm hoping Hell In A Cell concludes everything.  The Street Profits vs RKBRO For The RAW Tag Team Championship.  Hey, look. A good tag team match, playas! Yes, they've fought each other more times than Call Of Duty sequels but like I said, I enjoyed it. RKBRO retained the championship with an RKO from Riddle to Montez Ford.  Rhea Ripley Is Now An Evil Goth Girl.  She said, "f**k them, kids". Also, why's Edge rocking the "I believe in white genocide" look? Ripley had a match with Liv Morgan and of course, she won the w...

AEW Dynamite Blood And Guts | A Coherent Review.

Another watchable episode of AEW Dynamite but this time, it features the first-ever Blood And Guts encounter. Kenny Omega And Michael Nakazawa vs Jon Moxley And Eddie Kingston.  Don Callis announced that Michael Nakazawa is going to face Mox and Kingston all by himself only for Kenny Omega to show up and compete in the match anyway.  A weird booking choice but I'm just nitpicking.  What wasn't weird was how the match ended with a double team dragon suplex into a clothesline from the duo of Mox and Kingston to Nakazawa.  Then, a beatdown ensued from Omega's Posse to Jonny Mox and Eddie Kingston. The Young Bucks vs Jon Moxley and Eddie Kingston? I'm down.  It was revealed later in the night that a number one contenders match for the AEW championship is set up for next week's show between Orange Cassidy and Pac. I'm assuming AEW is saving the Hangman Page and Kenny Omega encounter for All Out?  Either way, AEW has the potential to tell an interesting story of ...

WWE Smackdown Season Premiere | A Coherent Review.

It is the season premiere of Friday night Smackdown even though WWE doesn't have an offseason.  Nevertheless, it was a decent program and had a WAY better ending than whatever the hell of an ending last year's premiere of Friday night Smackdown showed.  There isn't a women's match this week and all of the AEW fanboys are looking at this like, "sEe, WWE dOeSn't feATuRe wOmeN'S mAtChEs aLsO."  pictures via WWE.com The Season Premiere Of Smackdown 2020.  The show started off with Triple H and Stephanie McMahon highlighting the scheduled matches for Smackdown as well as the superstars.  Chaos then ensued thanks to a huge brawl. Then, the "super freak" Lars Sullivan came out and delivered the freak accident to Shorty G.  Somehow, Jeff Hardy attacked him and that led to the opening match of the night between Lars and Jeff.  You know, I'm kind of surprised that two white people in McMahon and Hemsley knew who Rick James is.  Maybe I'm igno...
