A mediocre final Monday Night RAW episode before the 2020 Royal Rumble event. Nothing on that show was even good other than two matches.
Also, I've skipped most of my thoughts on the backstage interviews and that's due to it's unseasoned, skippable aspect of those segments for the most part and that tradition will continue even on the Smackdown and the PPV reviews.
The self-proclaimed messiah of Monday nights thanked the fans for showing him his true purpose and also thanked his new disciple Buddy Murphy for embracing his fate. Out came Kevin Owens and Samoa Joe and they wanted less talking and more fighting.
Rollins basically replied by telling them that it is not wise to fight the 4 of "us" in himself, AOP and Buddy Murphy.
Joe verbally countered that saying that he and Owens are not alone and they brought up the RAW tag team champions, Viking Raiders leading to a brawl.
This was a decent way to start off this show. I would've liked for Murphy to actually talk about the new path he took instead of being silent but I'm nitpicking.
This should've main evented this episode given the stipulation and the sheer talent inside the ring but I digress. That match was all sorts of devastating to watch in a fun, entertaining way.
Vic Joseph mentioned that it's been 13 years since Monday Night RAW had a ladder match but he didn't state the specific match which was Jeff Hardy vs Carlito for the Intercontinental championship.
In the closing moments of the ladder match, Zelina Vega climbed on top of the ladder to prevent Mysterio from unhooking the belt to which Andrade delivers the hammerlock DDT through the ladder and unhooks the US title to retain the championship.
After the match, a dude with a mask on unmasked himself as the returning Humberto Carrillo and he hits with straight rights on the champion.
Oh, and Aleister Black squashed somebody quick with the black mass after the ladder match. Black continues his dominance. Good to see Carrillo once again. Hopefully, we will get to see more of the guy in the coming months.
Like the title above, the advocate explains Brock Lesnar’s role in that match and if the beast incarnate wins then basically Lesnar is immune to somebody challenging him for the WWE championship if that makes sense.
Ricochet showed up and he's not afraid to fight the beast in order to get a first-class ticket to Wrestlemania. Minutes after Ricochet enters the ring, Brock leaves the ring and Ricochet questions Lesnar if he's scared of him?
Brock answered the question by taking Ricochet to Dick kick city as Brian Zane would like to put it. Not as good as the R Truth segment from last week like at all but we now know what's Brock's going to do if he wins the men's Royal Rumble match.
Thanks to The O.C, the match ended in a DQ but Orton and McIntyre were willing to work with each other to get rid of the common adversary but Randy threw that away once he hits Drew with the 3 most destructive letters in sports entertainment.
In case you thought the segment was over, McIntyre grabbed the microphone and tells Randy that he'll kick his head off and will main event WrestleMania after he wins the Royal Rumble match.
A wise late-night talk show host once said, "cool". I will say this, a Royal Rumble match win for the Scotsmen will certainly move the dude's current position in the roster at least I hope that's the intention.
Before that match went down, Lynch cut a promo saying that when Asuka spits out the green mist on her, she saw this entire saga clearly and questions whether Asuka has the skills to defeat the man.
It's good to see Kairi Sane healthy and ready to go. Becky Lynch was about to hit the suplex but she instead ate the DDT from Sane.
Lynch knocks out Asuka with an elbow and locked in the disarmher on Kairi to win the match, however, Becky immediately ate a roundhouse kick from the empress and she applied in the Asuka lock for good measure.
Will see if that gives Asuka the biggest prize in the RAW women's division in less than 5 days.
Murphy hits a suplex on Erik leading to an immediate frog splash from Seth Rollins. Ivar then tagged his partner which led to a Viking Experience to Buddy Murphy but Rollins broke the pin.
The Monday night messiah helps Murphy deliver a double powerbomb from the top rope and Ivar somehow survived that.
His partner Erik however, didn't survive a stomp from Rollins and Murphy pins Erik to become the new RAW tag team champions. A solid tag team encounter. Shame that The Viking Raiders didn't do much with their run as champions but it is what it is.
We then transitioned into the Monday after weekend update segment and like the last time, it was "funny", "entertaining", "better than the original SNL skit".
Rowan wins again. Cool.
Sarah Schreiber asked Kevin Owens and Samoa Joe about Rollins and Murphy joining the Royal Rumble match and they proclaimed themselves as participants in the Royal Rumble match.
Meanwhile, one of The Bollywood Boyz in Sunil Singh tried to pin Mojo Rawley because he's the new 24/7 champion but he destroyed both Sunil and Samir Singh real quick.
Good on Mojo for being different and not run from the rest of the locker room chasing the champion.
This was the shortest main event match I've ever seen in quite some time and honestly, it was a good thing because it could've been a lot worse. The bad guys in this storyline win yet again with a spear from Lashley. Whatever.
So, to recap for all of you slow mofos.
Like: Rey Mysterio vs Andrade For The United States Championship In A Ladder Match, Seth Rollins and Buddy Murphy vs The Viking Raiders For The RAW Tag Team Championship, Humberto Carrillo returns.
Didn't like: Monday after weekend update, Brock Lesnar and Ricochet segment.
