The 5 News Week: Paul Heyman Hall Of Fame Induction?

Hello, my fellow wrestling fans and welcome to the 5 news week. The post where I report 5 major or minor pro wrestling news, rumours and spoilers of the week that I don't have time to do it separately. Without further ado, here are the 5 news week.

NWA Referee Yali Sapphire On EmPowerr And The Knockouts Division.

The youngest in charge, Andrew Thompson recently spoke to pro wrestling referee Yali Sapphire (the only job where you get to take bumps harder than Eva Marie).

During the discussion, Thompson asked Sapphire about the empowerment she felt being part of NWA's all women's show, Empowerr (from Post Wrestling):

"It was literally an empowering experience [NWA EmPowerrr] because right off the bat, Mickie [James] was so welcoming and so kind. Like she would speak to you as if you were a friend, like she had known you for years, so it was just mind-blowing, like oh my God. This woman that I saw as a kid was right here in front of me, she knows my name. It was crazy. But like, everybody there was just so supportive."

The interview goes on about another all women's event hosted by Impact Wrestling's Knockout special and how starstruck she felt seeing her favourite performers:

"It was like — I’m telling you, it was like a dream [being a part of IMPACT Wrestling’s Knockouts Knockdown show] because first of all, I woke up to a text message from Gail Kim saying, ‘Hi, it’s Gail.’

I was like nah, I’m still sleep right now. I thought about it and then five minutes later, I looked and I was like oh my God, this is crazy. They want me to do IMPACT Wrestling and I was still kind of on an emotional high from working with NWA, so I was like oh my God, what is life right now?

This is crazy and then you get to the locker room at IMPACT Wrestling and you see — it just seems like everybody that I hadn’t seen before was there in IMPACT Wrestling in the locker room, from Christopher Daniels, Eric Young, just everybody, just… Rhino, Christian [Cage], everybody. It was crazy. It was like a dream, and you know, I had to play it cool."

Quick Thoughts On Smackdown Yesterday.

Imagine thinking, "yea, I'm going to review Smackdown tomorrow" and then you woke up after a 16-hour sleep (it was pretty good in case you were curious) a few hours before the very next day.

Yea, this is why I didn't review Smackdown yesterday but I'm sharing my brief thoughts on what the blue brand did this week and it was okay.

Nothing really noteworthy happened besides Lacey Evans' origin story straight out of a COD intro and Charlotte Flair tapping out Drew Gulak which I'm sure the so-called "alphas" love the entire segment.

Andy Kaufman Documentary IN DEVELOPMENT!?

The folks over at The Wrap have heard from their snitch that a documentary is in the works about the late comedian, Andy Kaufman. Now, what does this piece of news have to do with wrestling?

Well, if you're as young as Louis Dangoor then you'll know that Kaufman played a significant role in the wrestling sphere whether it's his infamous feud with *I'm clearly not a creep* Jerry Lawler in Memphis Wrestling or wrestling with the women performers, calling himself as the "Intergender wrestling champion of the world".

The documentary doesn't have a release date so I'll definitely keep an eye on that.

Paul Heyman Hall Of Fame Induction?

Paul Heyman's promos alone should put him in the conversation of being in any hall of fame. Why? Just watch his in-ring promo about Vince McMahon on Smackdown during the invasion arc.

The guy himself did talk about a possible induction into the hall of fame and was like, "Nah, I'm good" during an interview with 101 WRIF (from WrestlingInc):

“I have absolutely no desire to go into the Hall of Fame while I am special counsel to the Tribal Chief Roman Reigns, And putting together a Hall of Fame run simply based on what we do as the Undisputed Champion right now, let alone everything else that has been accomplished beforehand.

So while we’re in the middle of this run, it would make no sense for me to go into the Hall of Fame.”

Keith Lee Was Told To Lose WEIGHT!?

WHAT? THAT CAN NOT BE POSSIBLE (sarcasm of course)!!

If you believe what Davey Boy Meltzer had to say on the Wrestling Observer Radio, the dude has mentioned that AEW’s Keith Lee (in his non-bearcat habitat) was told to lose weight similar to what they told Gunther because "Vince wants slim people on TV".

What a great company WWE is!

What do you think about the news I just reported and follow me on the tweets @omartheplayaguy? Anyways, stay safe smarks.

WWE RAW 4/3/19 | My Coherent Review.

This go home show episode of RAW was decent actually. It made me wanna watch a waste of a PPV called Fastlane with higher expectations.  Opening Segment.  The show kicked off with the Big Dog for the second week in a row. Roman Reigns cut a promo basically saying that this is the fan's yard now and calls out Seth Rollins to the ring. Seth Rollins said that he's gonna take Roman's fight with leukaemia and use it as motivation to beat Brock Lesnar for the Universal Championship.  Roman Reigns replied by telling Seth “good luck” and Roman's wants the band to get back together. Seth Rollins was conflicted at first but later accepted it. Dean Ambrose comes out and he was hit by Elias with a guitar. Decent segment and I was expecting for Drew, Lashley and Corbin to come out but I'm glad that didn't happen. Finn Balor, Braun Strowman and Kurt Angle vs Baron Corbin, Bobby Lashley and Drew McIntyre.  This match was boring three weeks ago and this ...

WWE Smackdown Live 30/10/18 | My Coherent Review.

Smackdown Live yesterday was a skippable show other than the opening segment and match in my opinion. Now usually on my RAW/Smackdown Live review, I break down what's good, what's ok and what's bad. For the first time, I'm only gonna tell you what's ok given that this show was again a skippable show and here we go.  WHAT'S OK The opening segment  This is the probably one of if not most noteworthy moment this week mainly because as you might know, there were reports going around that John Cena and Daniel Bryan were out of Crown Jewel and the reports are indeed true and it makes sense, especially for John Cena considering that he's an actor now and he needs to maintain his PR status. The segment itself was decent. Loved both guys' intensity and that segment leads to a WWE championship match and speaking of which............. Daniel Bryan vs AJ Styles  Decent match. Expected a better from these two but again, decent nevertheless but...

AEW Dynamite Blood And Guts | A Coherent Review.

Another watchable episode of AEW Dynamite but this time, it features the first-ever Blood And Guts encounter. Kenny Omega And Michael Nakazawa vs Jon Moxley And Eddie Kingston.  Don Callis announced that Michael Nakazawa is going to face Mox and Kingston all by himself only for Kenny Omega to show up and compete in the match anyway.  A weird booking choice but I'm just nitpicking.  What wasn't weird was how the match ended with a double team dragon suplex into a clothesline from the duo of Mox and Kingston to Nakazawa.  Then, a beatdown ensued from Omega's Posse to Jonny Mox and Eddie Kingston. The Young Bucks vs Jon Moxley and Eddie Kingston? I'm down.  It was revealed later in the night that a number one contenders match for the AEW championship is set up for next week's show between Orange Cassidy and Pac. I'm assuming AEW is saving the Hangman Page and Kenny Omega encounter for All Out?  Either way, AEW has the potential to tell an interesting story of ...
