WWE Smackdown 1/1/2021 | A Coherent Review.

This is the first Smackdown of 2021 and my first review of 2021.

You wanna know the obvious part? It's actually good.

Everything Roman Reigns Touches Turns Into Greatness.

The tribal chief kicked off the new year with yet another fantastic dialogue work pretty much saying that the reason why he wears a golden glove for his matches is that everything he touches turns into greatness.

Out came Kevin Owens and after Reigns wanted Owens to leave because he's embarrassing the champion, Owens challenged Jey to a match.

I'm glad to see someone as talented as Kevin Owens being in a high profiled storyline for the biggest title of the blue brand.

Unfortunately, the past several months has treated the guy with a whole lotta nothing.

As usual, Roman Reigns carried his segments with convincing promos but this one wasn't enough to make the latest segment of his great ya know?

Overall, it was a decent segment.

Big E vs King Corbin.

Sami Zayn on commentary said that he's "working with Michael Moore" for a documentary about the "conspiracy” surrounding his IC title loss.

I'm not gonna lie, as a guy that isn't too sold on heel Sami for quite some time, that made me laugh really loud.

The match ended via a DQ due to Sami striking on Big E and the big man took a bit of a 3 on 1 beatdown that included Corbin and the Knights Of The Lone Wolf (great name, by the way).

Fortunately for the Intercontinental champion, he was saved by APOLLOOOOOOO!

That led to, of course, a tag team match which was fine.

The miscommunications on the heel side of the team cost Sami and Corbin the match. That’s how Apollo led his team to victory with the powerbomb on Zayn.

Adam Pearce initially refused Kevin Owens wrestling against Jey Uso but after some convincing from Owens, Pearce gave the match a go.

Based on the Big E and Apollo Crews backstage segment, we're getting a match for the IC title between them.

Am I the only one that thinks that Apollo might turn heel next week?

Natalya And Tamina vs The Riott Squad.

It looks like they're doing something with Billie Kay that is actually interesting following the breakup of The IIconics months ago.

I wish I can say the same for Peyton Royce but it is what it is, I guess.

Thanks to Billie Kay, The Riott Squad won the match with a roll-up from Liv Morgan to Natalya.

Sasha Banks And Bianca Belair vs Carmella And Bayley.

This was a good old fashioned tag team match that did its job.

Due to some consistent outside interference from Reggie aka Carmella's assistant, Carmella hits the facebuster to pick up the victory.

We're probably getting another match between Banks and Carmella.

I hope once the eventual match has been settled, Sasha can move on and face newer, more interesting opponents.

In a backstage segment, Sonya Deville is back and has been reinstated by the power that be.

Great to see her back. That suit? As Dolph Ziggler's first theme song would say, it's perfection.

The Street Profits New Year's 2021 Predictions.

This segment felt a little bit all over the place with the insults of Sami Zayn and then Dolph Ziggler aka the Headache Kid according to the Street Profits (why write bad material for the Street Profits again, WWE?).

Speaking of Ziggler, he along with Robert Roode absolutely beat the crap out of the current Smackdown tag team champions.

Why? Because in an interview with Kalya Braxton, they demanded a tag team title shot.

All I can say is that I'm sure the match itself will be good but do I care about this rivalry? Nope.

Oh, and this segment wasn't good.

Daniel Bryan And Otis vs Cesaro And Shinsuke Nakamura.

I cannot get tired seeing Daniel Bryan interact with Shinsuke Nakamura. This was aight.

The team of Bryan and Otis won the match with the yes lock on Nakamura.

Kevin Owens vs Jey Uso.

After Owens defeated Jey Uso, Roman Reigns showed up and with the help of Jey Uso, he once again put down the man that would not stop and will get back up you know, like Matt Hardy circa 2005.

The match and the ending that followed it was decent.

The next step that I would like for the feud to pursue is to have both guys fight for the championship in a last man standing encounter just because I like the chaotic aspect of this storyline as seen by their good TLC match a few weeks ago.

Will see what happens next.

So, to recap for all of you slow mofos.

Like: Sonya Deville returning, Sasha Banks and Bianca Belair vs Carmella and Bayley, Sami Zayn on commentary during the Big E vs King Corbin match, Roman Reigns in the opening segment.

Didn't like: The Street Profits promo material in the Street Profits 2021 prediction segment.

WWE Extreme Rules 2019 | My Coherent Review.

Man, I'm impressed with WWE in terms of PPVs as of late because overall, this was a fantastic show in my opinion with great matches but the crowd was dead for most of the show so that sucks.  I finally watched the pre-show match between Finn Balor and Shinsuke Nakamura before I went to bed because the show aired at 2 am where I live and it was okay.  By the way, how interesting is it when on last year’s Extreme Rules show, Shinsuke Nakamura won the United States championship and now this year’s show, he won the intercontinental title. Also, it's funny that the intercontinental championship was the main event on last's year show and on this year's Extreme Rules PPV, it's on the preshow.  Shane McMahon and Drew McIntyre vs Roman Reigns and The Undertaker.  Mike Rome did better in announcing "The Best In the world" this time than on RAW. Mike Rome's announcement a few weeks ago sounded like that one friend that thinks he/she knows how to ...

NXT Takeover: In Your House 2020 | A Coherent Review.

NXT Takeover: In Your House is like the rest of the Takeover shows, a fantastic 2 hours of professional wrestling.  What makes this show special is the additional nostalgia like how the show started with the NXT WWF inspired intro, the ice cream commercial narrated by William Regal doing his best Lord Alferd Hayes impression, icopro commercial and last but not least, Todd Pettengill.  This is a show that I'm definitely rewatching in years to come.  Mia Yim, Tegan Nox And Shotzi Blackheart vs Raquel Gonzalez, Candice LeRae And Dakota Kai.  A decent opening match. During the match, Nox did a Molly Holly top rope on to every competitor in the match.  Yim tried to give LeRae some Seoul Food but LeRae reversed that into a suplex. Several minutes later, Shotzi did a Salida Del Sol of some sort on Gonzalez to which Nox delivered the shiniest wizard on Kai and won the match.  Finn Balor vs Damian Priest. I actually thought that the closing mo...

The Coherent Wrestling Wednesdays: Holy Sh*t, The Revival Are All Elite, Matt Riddle vs Timothy Thatcher In A Unique Steel Cage Match.

Both shows had its weak points but overall, that was an enjoyable 4 hours of professional wrestling television. I personally liked AEW Dynamite this week.  From an awesome women's match with Shida and Christi Jaynes to The Revival showing up, AEW managed to give me a solid episode and successfully furthered their storylines to next week's exciting show.  NXT   Highlights (at least in my opinion because wrestling is subjective).  Kushida vs Drake Maverick vs Jake Atlas. Triple Threat Match Interim Cruiserweight Championship Tournament.  What a way to kick off this episode of NXT, am I right? Atlas delivered the rainbow DDT but Kushida broke Jake's pin.  Speaking of Kushida, he nailed the armbar submission, however, Drake pinned Atlas because Atlas' shoulders were on the mat and will meet El Hijo Del Fantasma for the finals next week.  I don't know if Drake is rehired or he's going to be rehired but Maverick has a big ta...
